For the currency collector · The Bills
50 notes. Each one graded, each one 1/1.
Real Series-year Federal Reserve Notes, third-party graded by PMG, each with a serial, an issuing district and a certification number you can verify. Two years underground gave every note its own pattern of rust, mold, water and loss. Filter the archive the way you would read the damage.
14 more notes came out of the ground too broken up to count as whole bills: collages, fused pairs, notes missing half their paper. They are held back for another part of the project. See the partial bills.
The bills become art
These notes do not only get archived. They get rebuilt.
The buried bills are the raw material. From here the work branches two ways, for two other kinds of collector.
